That’s mostly due to ownership too. You got the same giant media outlets owning all of these local networks, trying to feed the same ideologies to you.
In the Arab world – we get our news from bloggers. It’s a great public sphere, as risky as it could be sometimes. People write about their personal experiences, report things our media wouldn’t dare even mention, criticize things we weren’t able to criticize publicly (and safely through an anonymous status.)
I hope it won’t be too long before we rely on our comedians, too, who for now can hardly get away with political satire.
